The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) is a funding organisation for the creation of research networks, called COST Actions. These networks offer an open space for collaboration among scientists across Europe and beyond.

COST is bottom up, this means that researchers can create a network – based on their own research interests and ideas – by submitting a proposal to the COST Open Call.

The COST Association (The European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is an international non-profit association with headquarters in Brussels, whose members are 40 countries, and which is financed within the Horizon Europe.

COST Actions are bottom-up networks with a duration of four years that boost research, innovation and careers.

COST actions help to connect research initiatives in Europe and beyond, allowing scientists and innovators to develop their ideas in any field of science and technology, sharing them with colleagues.

COST Actions are typically made up of researchers from academia, SMEs, public institutions and other relevant organisations or interested parties.
